"Mia" is convinced that monsters still exist, but school principal "Mrs. Garlicpress" is adamant that she is wrong. Indeed, she gets so fed up with her young pupil that she expels her and forces her to attend "Rotwood" instead. Needless to say "Mia" is a little apprehensive as she won't know anyone there, but imagine her surprise when she discovers that not only does she fit in but that she begins to find clues - not least from it's imposing head-teacher "Mr. Van Vlad" - that might just prove she was right all along! Have you ever seen a rat and a bat share some messy pasta? No, thought not - and there's quite a lot of other daftness in this amiable children's horror film that manages to mix a little bit of Hammer with a little of the "Munsters" whilst along the way paying some only very faintly disguised homages to the likes of "Harry Potter" and "Lady and the Tramp". I'm not really of the target demographic, but I found this to be quite an enjoyable series of entertainingly animated and mischievous scenes that reinforce the values of teamwork and friendship, have a nifty little vampire called "Paprika", a wily mouse called "Quentin", "Oscar" who can literally laugh his own head off and mercifully there isn't even an hint of Edina Menzel belting out any power ballads. I can't think I will remember this for very long, but it's quite good fun.
